Following the release of the first James Webb Space Telescope images, I saw a captivating video montage that a Redditor had made using their own astrophotography, zooming out of the Carina Nebula to a view of the Milky Way. It showed where it was relative to Earth instead of just ‘somewhere out there.’ I thought it would be great to see more from this perspective, so I set out to create a platform and editor to make creating these ‘zooms’ quick and easy.
A demonstration of such a montage is shown above. The “video” isn't actually a video, but a series of images that are loaded as you zoom out and placed dynamically in 3d space. This allows for a much higher resolution than a video would allow, and the ability to interact with the content.
Zoomscape enables users to discover, like, and share zooms with eachother. Users can even create new zooms using the built in editor.
